Quotes from previous and current
theater students:

“Joining the drama department was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve grown an incredible amount both as an artist and as a person.”
-Jane U’Ren

“I joined drama because my father used to teach it, but I never expected it to be such a spectacular personal journey as well.”
– Sam Rogers

"Within a week of joining this department I met so many people who are still my friends and are also amazing to work with. I've learned so much by joining drama, and it still challenges me every day."
-Olivia Rusin-Tindall

" A few of my favorite memories this year were doing tech in drama. One time we were all trying to take a tech photo on our set but could never get into the right place by the time the timer was done. Another was a workday we did where everyone got wrapped into an argument over the color of a ORANGE ladder which some were mistaking to be pink."
-Arlo Stein

“Being involved with the Drama Department is a wonderful way to meet people with whom you already share a common interest. It has helped me strengthen many skills which include both my self-confidence and public speaking.”
-Kiley Razi

"I am so thankful that I joined Drama! The Drama Department is so welcoming and has given me an opportunity to make friends with a wide variety of people."
-Lily Andrews

What should I expect in terms of classroom activities?

  • Reading aloud from scripts as a class and   learning how to analyze texts for deeper meanings and opportunities for character development.

  • Participating in group activities and games that increase your awareness of the five senses, exercise the body, and sharpen the mind.

  • Learn improvisation and memorization      techniques.

  • Stagecraft: Using tools, paints, and construction techniques to build sets and props; designing makeup, hair styles, and costumes for productions; learning about lighting and sound effects for the stage.

  • Minimal homework, maximum group work—   make sure your friends sign up for the class too so that you can all do scenes and one acts together!
